How to care for linen?

Linen Care

Remember that linen gets better with time: with each wash, it becomes softer and more pleasant to the touch.

Preparing for Washing

We advise you to wash your linen items separately, without mixing them with other textiles, and to pay attention to colors — white should not be washed with colors. Before putting them in the machine, turn them inside out and tie any ties or buttons if present.

Washing Linen

Linen can be washed by hand or machine.

For white linen, choose a temperature of 40 to 60 °C, and for colored linen, no more than 40 °C. Excessively high temperatures can cause up to 10% shrinkage.

Use a gentle spin cycle, maximum 800 revolutions per minute, to preserve the quality of the fiber.

A mild fabric softener is recommended only for the first wash. Afterward, it's best to avoid it as it coats the natural fibers and reduces their absorbency.

Items with embroidery should be washed inside out to preserve their beauty and durability.

Drying Linen

Whenever possible, air dry your linen items to enjoy their natural freshness. White linen appreciates sunlight, but for colored linen, it's better to choose a shaded spot to prevent fading.

You can also use a tumble dryer, selecting a very gentle and short program.

Ironing Linen

We love linen as it is, even with its natural creases! If you wish to iron it, choose a temperature of around 200 °C (this mainly applies to classic finish linen — washed or softened linen does not require ironing, its creases are all part of its charm).

Some additional tips:

  • Avoid chlorine-based bleaching agents, which damage the fiber and weaken the fabric.
In case of a stain, apply a little natural soap and rub gently before washing, or use "Terre de Sommières" (Sommières clay).

  • No dry cleaning.

Linen is both subtle and powerful. Once you adopt it, you won't be able to do without it — that's a promise!
